Unique Scottish Photography and Heritage Tours 2018 - Capercaillie Escapes

Scotland is home to a rich heritage and colourful history.  Add to that beautiful scenery among the colours of Autumn, a selection of historic wonders and warm Scottish hospitality you have the ingredients for a wonderful adventure here in Scotland.

Capercaillie Escapes, a local tour operator for tailormade travel across Scotland, is delighted to announce two unique special interest escorted tours being run this Autumn.

Scottish Textiles and Heritage Tour

The first from 17-24 October 2018 offers the opportunity to join historian and guide, Alison Balzer, for an introduction to Scottish textiles across the Highlands.  With time spent in our Highland capital of Inverness for a visit to the Loch Ness Knit Festival guests will then journey to one or two historic Scottish woollen mills and enjoy a wee tipple (or two) at a handcrafted Scottish gin distillery before travelling through the spectacular scenery of Torridon and Wester Ross.

Enjoy comfortable escorted transport, 4* small hotel / guest house accommodation, a selection of local activities and attractions enroute and the opportunity to explore the Highlands from a slightly different perspective.  The quality, style and history of textiles are a charming part of our Scottish heritage and so teaming up with a wonderful and passionate guide for this small group tour we are delighted to be able to showcase this wee part of Scotland.

To create a personal and flexible experience spaces are limited for this Scottish Textiles and Heritage Tour, however bookings are open on a first come first serve basis for another week until the end of August.

Scottish Photography Tour

Our second exciting opportunity this Autumn offers guests the chance to join an acclaimed Scottish photographer, Dougie Cunningham, from 3-10 November 2018 for a unique experience capturing spectacular landscapes, scenery and wildlife of Scotland.  Whether you are an avid photographer or just starting out and looking for an opportunity to learn, there is no doubt that immersing yourself among beautiful scenery and being guided by a professional offers a unique starting point for superb photography.

Dougie has spent years exploring the hidden glens, high mountains and islands of Scotland with his camera and with the knowledge he amassed has recently published his first book, Photographing Scotland – a first class guide for visitor to finding the best photographic locations and local highlights.  Dougie is ready to share his great love, expert knowledge and experience of Scotland with you – this is an exceptional tour offering a taste of some of the most beautiful landscapes in the land.  A shorter tour option of 4 days is also available from 10-14 October 2018.

With numbers for both the short and extended Scottish Photography Tour being strictly limited to a maximum of six people bookings are open on a first come first serve basis through to 14 September.
