The Games are here... - Capercaillie Escapes

The Games are here, and it’s with bounds of excitement and pride that Scotland welcomes the 71 countries of the Commonwealth and the World to “Come on in…” to share and enjoy it!  The wonderful city of Glasgow proudly sets the scene for 10 days of inspiring sport and festivities.  It promises to be a fantastic showcase and celebration of diversity, dedication and achievement of individuals and teams alike.  No matter which sport or athletes we support, the atmosphere and hospitality of our locals is sure to be electric!

The sun does shine in Scotland, and with temperatures rising, there is a giddy sense of excitement and a carnival atmosphere around the city.  From the Merchant City to Glasgow Green and Kelvingrove there is music, comedy, theatre and art all opening to visitors to enjoy and soak in alongside the top-class sport!  A cultural festival like no other that will create records, friendships and a proud legacy for years to come!

Joining celebrations for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony last night in Celtic Park, we were given a short tour around some of Scotland’s great landmarks and inventions whilst being reminded of Glasgow’s good humour, diversity and passion.  Glasgow has culture, history, architecture and above all personality that shone through, so now we wish all athletes and visitors to Scotland the very best of luck and come back to visit us soon!
